The Delaware County Fire & EMS Assosciation is pleased that the ground breaking for the Delaware County Fire & Ems Memorial has finally arrived. This memorial will be a tribute to thos Fire Fighters, EMS personnel, and Fire Police Officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, protecting the citizens of Delaware County. This Memorial is being placed in Rose Tree Park to sit proudly next to the already existing Delaware County law Enforcement Memorial. Participating in the ground breaking were: several State Government Officials, members of Delaware County Council, Delaware County District Attorney, Representatives from the Kangas, Reagan and Picozzi families, as well as the Brookhaven, Sharon Hill and Lower Chichester Fire Companies.

The Delaware County Fire & Ems Assosciation is comprised of members from stations throughout Delaware County. The Assosciation has been working on bringing this memorial to fruition for several years. Within the assosciation there are several committes and a business manager, each tasked with different responsibilities. The research committee, as of todays date has reached out to each of the County's Fire & EMS Companies and has a total of 59 members lost in the line of duty. This number does not include the 25 and counting deaths from those that responded to the Wade Dump Incident. For information regarding fallen members, please contact Rich R. The fundraising comittee has a large scale event planned at the Springfield Country Club on Septmeber 7th, 2008 to help raise funds for the construction & maintenance of the memorial. This event will be open to the public. In addition, there are personalized commemorative bricks available for $50, which will be placed at the memorial. A hockey game to honor Michael Reagan and kick off the Michael Reagan Scholarship fund was held at Ice Works in Aston Twp. A ceremonial dropping of the puck was held at center ice with Michael Reagan Sr dropping the puck and the Chiefs of Sharon Hill & Holmes Fire Companies at the face off. The scholarship fund will benefit those who endeavor to pursue a career in the emergency services. The game was played by the Ridley Raiders & Penncrest Lions middle schools.

UDFD Professional Fire Fighters Union held their annual benefit for muscular dystrophy today. Once again a great time for a great cause. Many were on hand again this year to show their support.

FOUND ON A MILK CARTON IN FORT LEE NJ

Lower Merion Fire Department hosted one of the National Fallen Firefighter Benefit Golf Outings today at the Westover Golf Club. Good fun for a Great cause. It was a great weather day for the event with a good turn out. L.M.F.D. would like to thank all those that participated or hosted todays outing, making it a successful event.

Greenridge Fire Company held there 65th anniversary Banquet.

Reliance Hook & Ladder Company held their 75th Anniversary Banquet & Awards presentations. Reliance is host to the Pennsylvania State Firemans Convention & Parade which will be on October 13th.

The 32nd annual Hero Scholarship Bowl was held at Widener University this year. Plaques were presented to the Families of Michael Reagan & Nicholas Picozzi who lost their lives in the line of duty this past year. The hero scholarship bowl is held annually to support scholarships for children of Police, Fire & Ems personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Police, Fire & EMS personnel from throughout the County showed up to represent the respective communities they protect. The teams are made up of Senior All Stars from throughout County schools to make up the teams for East & West. Congratulations to the winners of this years game, and thank you to all that support this event.

Words and these pictures don't say enough. This was one class event from start to finish. Camden Emerald Society was AWESOME. The Mummers band, and everyone else that came out to support this event. Standing room only. The UDFD Professional Fire Fighters Union held their annual Pour for the Cure benefit for MDA @Casey's. They raised approx $40,000 at todays benefit. I thank them for letting me be a small part of it. At times with the Emerald Society playing, with Pat in the center, it was hard to hold back the tears and take pictures. Well done just doesn't say it.
